The annual Summer Event, this year a barbecue, will take place on Saturday 21st June from 6:30 pm for 7 pm in the Rose Garden, King Charles I School, hosted by President Norman Broadfield.

2025 Summer Event (barbecue)

You are invited to join us for what is always a pleasant evening – lovely food in picturesque surroundings with unbeatable company!  Everyone is welcome to attend; being an Association member is not a pre-requisite, and we actively encourage non-Carolians to see how we do things, perhaps with a view to joining, or, if not eligible for membership, just to relax and take it all in.

The pertinent details:

  • Saturday 21st June
  • 6:30 pm with food being served from 7 pm
  • Rose Garden, King Charles I School (unless the weather is temperamental, in which case we shall re-locate to under the canopy between the Blount's and Old School buildings; this will be sign-posted if necessary)
  • £10 a head, which covers a decent variety of meats, breads, salads, condiments, and, of course, puddings, overseen by Committee members Arthur Miller and Pete Picken.  Vegetarians can also be accommodated so long as this is mentioned when booking.
  • We can no longer offer a bar; therefore, please be sure to bring any drinks that you wish to have, plus glasses if you prefer to consume them from something specialist; the Association is able to provide a few generic glasses only.
  • Owing to a lack of availability of suitable furniture, it is highly advised that you bring your own table and chairs.
  • raffle will also be run during the event; therefore, if you wish to participate, please be sure to bring some change (or even some notes!).
  • The deadline for booking is 6 pm on 14th June; this will enable a reliable food order to be placed.

How to book:

To make life simpler, we have decided that bookings should take just the one format this year; however, should you genuinely struggle with this, please contact us to discuss alternative arrangements.
