The annual Autumn Event, this year a casino night, took place on Saturday 13th September from 7 pm for 7:30 pm at Chester Road Sports and Social Club, hosted by President Pete Guy.
After a shaky start – we were late getting out information about the event this year – President Peter Guy got a respectable turnout for the final social event of his Presidential year – a casino evening.
Many of the guests had never played roulette before, but, after a few minutes' instruction, were playing the tables as confidently as James Bond.
The chips were just for fun and in the interest of simple arithmetic the odds were rounded up, and so winnings were more generous than in a real casino, although, when you lost, you still lost! The competitive objective of the evening was to amass as many chips as possible to win prizes donated by the President.
After a buffet supper, supplied by Ken and Pat Garbett, the punters took to the tables again – this time playing blackjack – and saw the evening out chasing those elusive (or in some cases, not so elusive) twenty-ones.
The President awarded a prize for the most successful punter of the evening; this was won by Trudy Easton. Ken Garbett was the most successful gentleman 'investor'.
Another successful event for President Peter Guy.
