The 87th Annual General Meeting took place on Wednesday 7th November from 8:30 pm at Chester Road Sports and Social Club, hosted by President Tony Kidd.

2001 Annual General Meeting

Retiring President Tony Kidd reported a successful year when he handed over the reins to Keith Weston.

The Annual Dinner had been well supported while the choice of the rugby club had been a fortunate venue for the summer event.  As the evening grew cooler, guests were able to retreat into the clubhouse.

He paid tribute to the barbecue skills of Martin Humphries and Peter Picken, and the invaluable help of Ken Garbett and Keith Weston.  The Autumn Event, a quiz night at Chester Road Sporting Club, was not so well supported, but John McCarthy set some testing questions.

The re-dedication of the war memorial clock in the school staff room had been a praiseworthy achievement in July.

Treasurer Peter Picken reported a surplus for the year of £420.79.  The Annual Dinner and the Summer Event made a profit and, with extra income from advertisements, helped to offset Magazine expenses of nearly £1000.

The membership records were now computerised and the website was proving a great benefit, particularly to younger members.

Keith Weston said his election as President coincided with the 40th anniversary of his leaving the School.  Peter Guy is the new Vice-President; Martin Humphries was re-elected Secretary and Peter Picken Treasurer, with Norman Broadfield replacing Bill Williams, who has edited The Old Carolian Magazine for the past 45 years.
